CARITAS is a cornerstone nonprofit in the Richmond region dedicated to ending homelessness and supporting long-term recovery from addiction by creating a safe space to heal and time to rebuild. For nearly 40 years, CARITAS has offered a comprehensive family of programs including 24/7 emergency shelter, long-term peer-driven recovery through The Healing Place, workforce development with CARITAS Works, recovery-focused residences, and essential household support via the Furniture Bank - all at no cost to participants.
In 2024 alone, CARITAS and its partners delivered tens of thousands of nights of shelter and meals to people experiencing homelessness, served over a thousand individuals through shelter and recovery programs, and helped graduates of CARITAS Works gain stable employment - evidence of the organization’s deep regional impact and its role as the largest provider of shelter and recovery services in the Greater Richmond area.
Through strategic partnerships, community volunteers, and a coordinated approach to housing, healthcare, and employment barriers, CARITAS moves people from crisis to stability, dignity, and long-term self-sufficiency.
At CARITAS, Floyd plays a key role in supporting the development team by executing communication strategies that engage donors, volunteers, supporters, and the broader community. Responsible for content creation, social media management, email marketing, and other storytelling initiatives that enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen the organization's mission and brand. With a commitment to representing Virginia culture and substance use recovery with nuance and dignity, her work highlights the voices and lived experiences of individuals navigating housing and addiction challenges.
